Retrace Labs respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the information associated with your use of the Retrace mobile application (“Retrace,” the “App”) and the Retrace Labs website at retracenav.com (the “Website”).
This Privacy Policy explains what information may be accessed, collected, used, stored, or shared when you use Retrace or visit our Website, why that information is used, and the choices available to you.
By using Retrace or the Retrace Labs Website, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Information Retrace Uses
Precise Location Information
Retrace is an outdoor navigation and safety application. Its core functionality requires access to your device's precise location.
When you give Retrace permission to access your location, the App may use GPS and other device location services to determine your location and support features including:
• Recording your route or breadcrumb trail
• Retracing your path
• Displaying latitude and longitude
• Creating and locating waypoints
• Marking locations such as a vehicle, campsite, trail location, or other user-selected point
• Detecting deviation from a recorded route
• Providing navigation and directional information
• Supporting emergency and SOS functionality
• Continuing an active tracking session when the App operates in the background
Retrace may require background location permission for features that continue recording a route while the screen is off or while another application is being used.
You control location permissions through your device settings and through applicable controls within the App. Disabling location access may prevent some or all navigation, tracking, waypoint, deviation-alert, and emergency-location features from functioning properly.
Location History and Breadcrumb Data
When you start a tracking session, Retrace may record a series of geographic coordinates that form your breadcrumb trail.
This information is used to allow you to retrace your route and use related navigation and safety features.
Retrace is designed as an offline-first application. Navigation information may be stored locally on your device so that core functionality can continue when cellular or internet service is unavailable.
Waypoints
Retrace allows users to manually create waypoints, such as a vehicle location, campsite, trail point, or other location the user wants to remember.
Waypoint information may include geographic coordinates and a label or description supplied by the user.
2. Emergency and SOS Features
Retrace may provide safety features that allow location information to be included in an emergency or SOS communication.
Depending upon the functionality enabled in the released version of the App, an emergency communication may include information such as:
• Your last known location
• Latitude and longitude
• Relevant breadcrumb or route information
• Other information necessary to help communicate your location during an emergency
Emergency contacts are manually entered or configured by the user. Retrace does not need to collect the user's entire device contact list merely to allow the user to designate an emergency contact.
When a user initiates or enables a feature that transmits location information to another person or service, that information may leave the user's device and be transmitted to the intended recipient or a service necessary to deliver the communication.
Retrace does not sell emergency location information or use emergency location information for advertising.
3. Collection and Sharing of Location Data
Google Play may classify certain processing performed by Retrace as the collection or sharing of precise location information when information is transmitted off the user's device or transferred to another party in connection with an App feature.
Precise location may therefore be collected or shared when necessary to provide user-requested App functionality, including applicable navigation, safety, emergency, or communication features.
Retrace Labs does not sell users' precise location information.
Retrace Labs does not share precise location information with advertisers for targeted advertising.
Location information is used for App functionality and safety-related purposes associated with the services requested or enabled by the user.
4. User Accounts
Retrace does not currently require users to create a Retrace Labs account to use the App.
Accordingly, Retrace does not require a username and password or similar Retrace account credentials for its core navigation functionality.
If account functionality is introduced in a future version, this Privacy Policy and applicable Google Play disclosures will be updated as necessary.
5. Emergency Contacts
If you choose to configure an emergency contact, you manually provide the information necessary for that feature.
Retrace does not require permission to import or collect your entire address book solely for this purpose.
The information you manually enter is used to provide the emergency-contact functionality you request.
6. Device Sensors
Retrace may use sensors and capabilities available on your device, including GPS, compass, accelerometer, magnetometer, and related sensors, to provide navigation and orientation functionality.
Sensor information may be processed on the device to determine heading, direction, movement, orientation, or other information necessary for App functionality.
7. Offline Functionality
Retrace is designed to provide important navigation functionality even when internet or cellular service is unavailable.
Certain information, including breadcrumb trails, waypoints, coordinates, and related navigation information, may therefore be stored locally on your device.
Information that remains exclusively on your device and is not transmitted to Retrace Labs or another party may not constitute “collected” data under applicable app-store definitions.
8. How We Use Information
Information accessed or processed through Retrace may be used to:
• Provide navigation and breadcrumb tracking
• Allow users to retrace recorded routes
• Display location and coordinate information
• Provide compass and directional functionality
• Save and locate waypoints
• Detect deviation from a recorded path
• Support emergency and SOS features
• Maintain the functionality and security of the App
• Diagnose technical problems where applicable
• Comply with applicable legal requirements
Retrace Labs does not use precise location information for behavioral advertising.
9. Data Security
Retrace Labs takes reasonable administrative and technical measures designed to protect information handled through the App and Website.
When user data is transmitted from the device over a network under our control, it is intended to be protected using secure encrypted connections, such as HTTPS/TLS, where applicable.
No electronic transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Users should also protect their devices with appropriate security measures such as device authentication and current operating-system security updates.
10. Data Retention and Deletion
Information stored locally by Retrace may remain on the user's device until the user deletes the applicable information, clears App data, or removes the App, depending on the particular feature and device operating system.
Where Retrace Labs receives or stores information outside the user's device, we retain it only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, to provide the applicable service, or to meet legal and security requirements.

11. Website Information
The Retrace Labs Website may process limited technical information ordinarily associated with operating a website, such as browser type, device type, IP address, and basic website usage or security information.
If you voluntarily submit information through a Website form, such as an email address or message, we may use that information to respond to your request or provide the service for which you supplied it.
If the Website offers an optional email-newsletter or update subscription, the email address supplied for that purpose may be used to provide the requested communications. Users may discontinue those communications using the available unsubscribe mechanism or by contacting Retrace Labs.
We do not sell personal information submitted through the Website.
12. Third-Party Services
Retrace may rely on operating-system services or third-party technology necessary to provide particular functions.
Those services may process information according to their own privacy practices.
Retrace Labs seeks to limit third-party access to information to what is reasonably necessary to provide the applicable functionality.
If third-party SDKs or services are added to or removed from Retrace, our privacy disclosures and Google Play Data Safety information will be reviewed and updated when necessary.
13. Children's Privacy
Retrace is not designed to knowingly solicit personal information from children.
If Retrace Labs becomes aware that personal information from a child has been collected in a manner inconsistent with applicable law, we will take appropriate steps to address or delete that information.

Retrace Labs may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request; protect the security and integrity of our services; investigate fraud or misuse; or protect the rights, safety, and property of Retrace Labs, our users, or others.

Depending on your device and the functionality you use, you may be able to:
• Grant or deny location permission
• Control background location permission
• Stop an active tracking session
• Delete locally stored routes or waypoints
• Remove manually entered emergency-contact information
• Clear App data
• Uninstall the App
Some Retrace features cannot function without location access because geographic location is fundamental to breadcrumb tracking, navigation, waypoints, route deviation detection, and related safety functionality.
16. Changes to This Privacy Policy
Retrace Labs may update this Privacy Policy as Retrace develops, new functionality is introduced, legal requirements change, or our data practices change.
When material changes are made, the effective date at the top of this Privacy Policy will be updated.
We encourage users to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
